The MIFARE classic cards operate at 13.56MHz and offer a typical read/write range of 10cm (4 inch). However, MIFARE Classic has now been superseded with MIFARE Classic EV1 that features excellent ESD robustness as well as True Random Number Generator and Random ID support for the 7 Byte UID version. The Classic family is widely used in applications such as access control, transport and loyalty, to name but a few.

MIFARE Ultralight family, including MIFARE Ultralight, MIFARE Ultralight C and MIFARE Ultralight EV1 benefits from One-Time-Programmable (OTP) memory are in combination with ISO Unique Identifier (UID) on a secure infrastructure. Another advantage of using this technology is that it is ideal for limited-use applications which leads to reduced system installation and maintenance costs.
